Paul Edwards Awarded TEAM USA Honors!
Derby, Ebgland
Today, American driver, Paul Edwards, 21, of Santa Maria, California was awarded his second consecutive Team USA Scholarship. His prize for winning the Scholarship will be a funded drive in the Palmer Audi Winterseries. Fellow American Jeff Simmons will race alongside Edwards. Competing with Edwards for one of the two Scholarships were fellow Americans Joey Hand, Aaron Justus, Andy Lally, and Rocky Moran Jr. Last season the Team USA Scholarship allowed Edwards to contest the Formula Opel Winterseries, which he won. This year's prize comes after a successful season in the EFDA
Euroseries where Edwards finished third overall, and ended the
season with a dominating display of wet weather prowess in the
final race at Zandvoort. After today's announcement he expressed
his gratitude and excitement to the press, "I would like to give
a big thanks to Jeremy Shaw and all the Team USA Scholarship supporters
including Jonathan Palmer. I am very grateful, because without
their assistance this would never be possible. I am really looking
forward to the Palmer Audi Winter Series and hopefully bringing
home the Championship, but I expect the competition to be intense." The four race Palmer Audi Winter Series will be contested on the second and third weekends of November at the British tracks Snetterton and Brands Hatch. The Team USA Scholarship was founded in 1990 by American journalist Jeremy Shaw to provide young American drivers the opportunity to compete against young European drivers. |
